Biomaterials 2024/2025
Biomaterials are materials of natural or synthetic origin used to replace, improve or treat a tissue or function in the body, making it easier for patients to heal after injuries or illnesses.
Some examples are hip replacements, contact lenses, pacemakers, vascular prostheses and catheters.
The images in this collection were provided by the Advanced Graphene Biomaterials group at i3S.
This research group aims to develop new biomaterials with better performance, i.e. more resistant to infections and the formation of clots, to help improve the quality of life and/or save the lives of the millions of patients around the world who use these devices.
